Canada Day and a Kiln full of experiments

So -- the firing has just started -- I'm using the schedule as below except only going to 1465.

My latest hope is that a series of wall pockets made from champagne glasses, an odd, heavy, sort of triangle shaped bottle, one from a glass "christmas tree" and one from straight old system 96 will all work out. I'm mainly using fiber felt for the pocket part and trying out stainless steel wire for the hanging system. In one I've wrapped the fiber felt around a piece of slightly flattened copper pipe.

Also, I cut fiber felt to a shape about 3/8" smaller than the flattened ice-wine bottle, so by slumping over that, I may get an interested "tray" effect.

You can't see it in these pictures, but the "too hot" schedule did create a beautiful effect for that bottle. What you can see in one of these pictures is some of the pretty aqua and amber glass from the yard sale bud vases -- one of the stems devitrified and the other didn't -- both came out a bit rough-edged from dragging across the shelf. By refiring with some of the broken parts (always matching to the same piece because I know you can't mix glass) added back for the fiber felt channels, I may get pieces nice enough for wind chimes. Same with the dark blue from the yard sale triviet. The system 96 melt-downs are back in this firing as well -- new channels and cabs to add some detail -- along with some fresh 96 pieces incorporating cabs as well.

And I'm trying one double layer of 96 with a dried piece of plant underneath. This will burn away for sure -- will it leave a nice indented pattern?

Next experiment will involve molds!
